If you need help making time for God in your busy schedule, then this post is definitely for you! The following plan is set up for effective time with God over the course of a month. I’ve set it up for the month of January, 2025, but you can easily start today and continue forward with the daily prompts!
I have included physical activity because that is part of my usual schedule and itโs a great time to spend alone with God. I have included my bible study on the book of Matthew because I feel the closest connection to Jesus when I read Matthew. It also helps when I feel temptation in life. The book of Luke is one I have not spent much time in and hope to get through. Iโve also included journaling because I enjoy journaling about my blessings and also my prayers.ย
This spiritual formation plan is designed to help you spend meaningful time with God every day, no matter how full your schedule is. Whether you follow it exactly or adapt it to fit your lifestyle, the important thing is that youโre making a commitment to prioritize your relationship with Him.
One thing Iโve learned is that spending time with God doesnโt have to look the same for everyone. Thatโs why Iโve included a variety of practicesโBible study, prayer, journaling, worship, and even physical activity. For me, movement and spirituality go hand in hand. When I go for a walk, I feel more present with God. Itโs a time when I can reflect, pray, and listen to His word without distractions. Maybe for you, itโs morning coffee with a devotional, or quiet time in the evening. The key is to be intentional and set aside moments where you can connect with Him.ย

Why a Plan is Crucial in a Spiritual Journey
A strong spiritual journey doesnโt happen by accidentโit requires intention, dedication, and consistency. Just like any other important area of life, such as career growth, health, or personal development, spiritual growth flourishes when there is a plan in place. Without structure, itโs easy to drift away from our faith, become distracted by lifeโs demands, and miss out on the deeper relationship with God that we long for.
A plan provides direction and clarity. It helps us focus on what truly matters in our spiritual walk, ensuring that we set aside time for prayer, Bible study, worship, and reflection. When we donโt have a plan, we often default to fitting God into our lives whenever itโs convenient. But convenience is unpredictable, and before we know it, days or even weeks can pass without meaningful connection with God. Having a structured approach helps prevent this drift, keeping us grounded in our faith.
Another key benefit of having a plan is accountability. Whether youโre following a Bible reading schedule, attending church regularly, or setting specific prayer goals, a plan holds you accountable to your commitment. It reminds you of your โwhyโโwhy you are seeking God, why you desire spiritual growth, and why this journey is important to you. This accountability can be personal, but it can also be strengthened through community. Sharing your plan with a friend, mentor, or small group can encourage consistency and mutual support.
It’s so much more than “just” time with God – it’s personal growth
A spiritual plan also fosters discipline. Growth requires effort, and discipline is what keeps us moving forward, even when we donโt feel like it. There will be days when distractions feel overwhelming, when motivation is low, or when doubt creeps in. But when you have a structured plan, you donโt have to rely solely on feelingsโyou have a roadmap to follow. Discipline leads to habits, and habits shape a stronger, more resilient faith.
Additionally, a plan allows for reflection and progress tracking. When we document our spiritual journeyโthrough journaling, tracking answered prayers, or reflecting on Bible verses that have impacted usโwe gain a deeper understanding of how God is working in our lives. We can see patterns of His faithfulness, recognize areas where weโve grown, and become more aware of the ways He is leading us. This reflection not only strengthens our faith but also fills us with gratitude and reassurance in moments of doubt.
Most importantly, a spiritual plan helps us draw closer to God. The ultimate goal of any faith journey is to build a deeper relationship with Him, and intentional time spent in His presence is the key to achieving that. When we prioritize God through a structured plan, we open our hearts to His wisdom, guidance, and peace.
If youโre longing for a stronger, more consistent faith, I encourage you to create a plan that works for you. Whether itโs a 30-day challenge, a Bible reading schedule, or daily prayer time, having a plan will transform your spiritual journey and bring you closer to God.
Here is my 30-Day Spiritual Formation Plan:
Iโve chosen to focus on Matthew for my Bible study because I feel a strong connection to Jesus when I read it. It reminds me of His teachings, His love, and the strength He gives me to resist temptation. If youโre facing struggles or need guidance, Matthew is a great book to start withโitโs filled with wisdom that speaks directly to everyday challenges.
Iโve also included Luke because itโs a book I havenโt spent as much time in, and I want to explore it more deeply. Maybe you have a book of the Bible youโve been meaning to read but havenโt yetโthis could be a great opportunity to dive in.
You donโt have to wait until January to begin. If youโre feeling the pull to grow closer to God, start today. Even if itโs just five minutes, that time will make a difference.
God doesnโt ask for perfectionโHe asks for our hearts. When we make time for Him, we open ourselves to His peace, guidance, and love. No matter how busy life gets, He is always there, ready to meet us where we are.

We all know how difficult life can be when you have a busy schedule. Don’t let it get in the way of you and God, though. By managing a busy schedule better and scheduling time for Him, you can make your relationship with God so much stronger.
This 30-day Spiritual Formation Plan is a simple way to intentionally draw closer to God, even in the midst of a busy life. So often, we get caught up in the demands of our daily routinesโwork, family, responsibilitiesโuntil we find ourselves unintentionally drifting away from our faith. But when we make time for God every day, even in small ways, we strengthen our relationship with Him and build a foundation that will sustain us through all of lifeโs ups and downs.
Each day in this plan is designed to create meaningful moments of connection with God, whether through prayer, scripture, worship, or reflection. Attending church regularly helps foster a sense of community and spiritual accountability. Fasting, even for a short period, teaches discipline and deepens our dependence on God. Praying for our enemies reminds us of the love and grace we are called to extend, even when itโs hard. Walking with God, listening to His word, is a reminder that He is with us in every step, not just in designated quiet times but in our everyday lives.
One of the most powerful aspects of this plan is its emphasis on gratitude. Taking time to reflect on blessings, big and small, shifts our focus from what we lack to what God has already provided. Gratitude opens the door for more joy and peace, even in difficult seasons. Keeping a journal allows us to look back and see the ways God has been faithful, giving us encouragement for the future.
If youโve been feeling distant from God or struggling to keep Him at the center of your life, this plan is a simple but powerful way to realign your heart with His. You donโt have to do it perfectlyโwhat matters most is showing up, day after day, with a heart that longs to seek Him.
So, as you step into this 30-day journey, I encourage you to do so with an open heart and a willingness to see where God leads you. He desires to be close to you, and when you make the effort to prioritize Him, He will meet you there.
Let this be the month you strengthen your faith, grow in wisdom, and cultivate a deeper relationship with God. You are not alone in this journeyโHe is walking with you every step of the way.
